Walksnail WS-M181 GPS

The Walksnail WS-M181 GPS is a very small and lightweight GPS with built-in compass. Suitable for drones, planes rovers or other DIY projects that needs a small, precise and quick GPS.

This GPS made by Walksnail is using the latest generation M10 chip (Tenth generation chip) and includes a compass (QMC5883). The u-Blox M10 chipset is the latest (2024) chipset by Ublox and provides a higher accuracy and quicker fix of satellite acquiring than the older chipset versions.

The GPS module is connected by UART (RX and TX pins) and the compass is connected by I2C bus (SDA, SCL).

The following GPS providers are usable: GPS L1,GLONASS L1,BDSB1,GALILEO E1,SBAS L1.QZSS L1

Thanks to the support of six global positioning systems, the maximum simultaneous received satellites can be 32. This provides ultimate accuracy and a good GPS fix in all circumstances.

QMC5883 MAG

The Built-in QMC5883 Mag is used to provide a very accurate heading estimation, even when your application is stationary. A must have for platforms that can be stationary, like multicopter / drone / rover use, an optional extra accuracy for fixed wings.

The compass is connected to your flight controller / controller by I2C ( SCL / SDA ).

Ceramic antenna

The use of a high quality Ceramic makes sure that the signal reception that is fed into the UBX-M10050 GNSS chipset is of the best possible quality, even in challenging RF environments.

The Antenna is treated with a special spray painting process to prevent oxidation and scratching.

Battery built-in

A built-in battery will make sure that the chipset stores the latest data even when you are not using the GPS. Thanks to this, the GPS module offers a hot start function resulting in really quick GPS locks when using the GPS.

 

Six Satellites systems

The Walksnail WS-M181 GPS module supports 6 satellites systems: GLONASS, GALILEOP, BZENSS, SBSA, GPS and BDS.

Thanks to the support of so many satellites system, this module can be used world wide and offers reception of up to 32 satellites at the same time.

Very small and lightweight

This GPS module only measures 18mm x 18mm x 4.6mm (L x W x H) and only weights 4.3G.

Important:

Because the used GPS chip is the newest 10th generation chip by Ublox, flight controllers need to be flashed with the newest version. For betaflight, please use version 4.3.0 or later to use the UBLOX protocol. Betaflight firmware below 4.29 will fallback to the less efficient NMEA protocol.
